What is the ATS Guardians of Hope Scholarship Program?

Guardians of Hope is our scholarship program to make recovery accessible for all at Addiction Treatment Services. We honor those who have passed due to substance use disorder and give hope to those who are actively seeking recovery.

We understand not everyone has insurance or might be under-insured, which is why this scholarship program is so incredibly important to ensure individuals in Northern Michigan are getting the support they need to continue their treatment program.

The Guardians of Hope scholarship program will be funded through donations and will be accessible to ATS clients through a brief application process. Clients awarded this scholarship can use it to help pay for withdrawal management, residential treatment, inpatient services or recovery housing.

ATS will accept both normal donations of any amount and donations in honor of a loved one who has passed due to substance use disorder. All donations in honor of a loved one will include the opportunity to have their name listed on the ATS website, however donations greater than $1,000 will include the opportunity to have a photo and story on the ATS website and will allow for the individual to become a Guardian of Hope.

Meet Our First Guardian of Hope

Dana Hendrickson.pngDana Lynn Hendrickson  | January 2, 1985 – April 8, 2017

"We would like to honor the life of our daughter Dana by making a donation to the Addiction Treatment Services Guardian of Hope Scholarship Fund.

From the moment Dana entered this world, she spread joy, love, and laughter to all who knew her. Dana loved growing up on Spider Lake in Traverse City making memories with her three sisters and many friends.  She was a 2003 Graduate of Traverse City Central High School. By far her favorite part of High School was singing or being in the High School musical. She was the happiest when she was on stage performing or spending time with her family.

Dana struggled with the disease of addiction for about 12 years. During those years she worked very hard to have 3 years in recovery. Sadly, she lost her battle to addiction on April 8th, 2017. Helping others was always one of the most important things to Dana. Therefore, we would like to honor her life by helping others who are seeking recovery.  Her “Light of Hope” for others will live on through opportunities like this, so I encourage our community to donate to this very worthy scholarship fund. Dana’s favorite quote is “Be the Change You Wish to See in the World”, please help us change the lives of others in a positive way." —Steve & Nancy Dow
